EVAR SIZING
Sizing in EVAR for elective infrarenal AAA (part 1)
Supervisor: Isabelle Van Herzeele
Lead convenor: Joost Van Herwaarden
Co-convenor: Theo Bisdas, Maeso Lebrun, Tilo Kölbe
This generic workshop will focus on a structured approach to evaluate the CTA of a patient with an elective infrarenal AAA. The importance of sizing and planning (C-arm angulations) for a durable repair will be emphasized. All participants will have the opportunity to learn and practice measurement, sizing of an EVAR procedure using dedicated 3D workstations under supervision.
Planning and ordering of a specific graft is NOT included in this workshop, included in part 2 Planning and ordering devices in elective EVAR on Friday.
Learning objectives:
• Structured method to assess every CTA in a potential EVAR patient
• Know and practice the principles of sizing using a dedicated 3D workstation
• Select angulations based on sizing (if time allows).

EVAR PLANNING – COOK MEDICAL DEVICES
Planning and ordering a stent-graft in elective EVAR (part 2)
Supervisor: Isabelle Van Herzeele
Lead convenor: Kakkhee Yeung
Co-convenor: JP De Vries, Giovanni Tinelli, Giovani Patresi
This device specific workshop is the second part of the sizing and planning workshop in elective EVAR and will focus solely on planning (introduction of body, orientation of contralateral limb, C-arm angulations) for a durable repair. All participants will learn how to plan and order Cook devices including the toolkit and bail-out tools that may be required. This workshop is largely based on interactive case discussions.
Generic sizing is NOT included in this workshop.
Learning objectives:
• Structured method to plan EVAR procedure
• Know and practice the principles of ordering devices using dedicated sizing sheaths
• Select angulations, introductory sites, orientation contralateral limb, accessory tools based on cases that have been sized.

RADIATION SAFETY 1
Dose reduction strategies in modern imaging environments
Supervisor: Adrien Hertault
Lead convenor: Tara Mastracci, Blandine Maurel
This is a practical workshop on X-ray management during endovascular procedures and on modern tools to limit radiation, in a recreational environment under the supervision of experts. Participants will have the opportunity to work on the principles of radiation protection on simulators and in virtual reality, to learn to identify and correct inappropriate behaviors in the operating room, and to practice image fusion techniques.
Learning objectives:
• Know and practice the principles of radiation protection
• Identify and correct inappropriate behaviors
• Training for image fusion

OPEN CEA 1
Tips and tricks in OPEN Carotid Surgery (BASIC course)
Supervisor: Isabelle Van Herzeele
Lead convenor: Jonas Eiberg
Co-convenor: Umit Altindas, Julien Gaudric, Hans Henning Eckstein
This is a basic hands-on workshop demonstrating the basic surgical techniques in open carotid surgery.
During the WS different useful eversion carotid endarterectomy (CEA), classic CEA with patch, shunt technique etc. will be demonstrated and trained on open surgical simulators under close supervision.
Participants will meet enthusiastic experts that will share there “secret” tips and tricks.
Learning objectives:
• Perform eversion carotid endarterectomy
• Perform carotid endarterectomy with patch closure
• Learn how to use a shunt
Target audience: Vascular surgeons in training or early in practice with approximately < 20 procedures (supervision and independent). We expect that participants have a minimum of experience in basic vascular anastomotic techniques, instrument handling and knot tying. Be ready and open minded to receive feedback, be corrected and to focus on the important details.

EMBOLIZATION
Embolization principles and techniques for vascular surgeons (BASIC course)
Supervisor: Adrien Hertault
Lead convenor: Nuno Dias, Blandine Maurel
This is a hands-on workshop on controlled detachment coils, plugs and onyx embolization techniques in vascular surgery. Participants will learn about the basic toolkit for these procedures and will be able to train in the different embolization techniques on 3D models under the supervision of experts. An exchange around concrete clinical cases (embolization of type II endoleak, splenic aneurysms, etc…) will allow participants to better understand the place of each technique in their daily practice.
Learning objectives:
• Know the basic material for embolization
• Identify which technique applies to each clinical situation
• Practise the different techniques on 3D models
